Masseria La Spinetta is a fabulous example of a contemporary house built in a traditional style, where it is possible to enjoy the splendour of the historic masseria without any of the accompanying drawbacks. Built from the local Pietra Leccese (the honey coloured local limestone), lofty stone vaulted ceilings and marble floors are a feature of every room. The thick stone walls provide relief from the summer heat and with the addition of discreet comfort cooling throughout the property and delicious linen sheets from
The Linen Works, guests are ensured a good night’s sleep. Under floor heating means the property can be enjoyed throughout the year. Bathrooms have been finished to a very high standard in polished plaster and designer fittings and guests can enjoy the complimentary
Aromatherapy Associates products.
La Spinetta is furnished with an eclectic and exotic mix of European antiques, hand crafted contemporary furniture, vast pots from the middle East, ancient Uzbek souzanis and outside, the Indian colonial furniture in Burma teak compliments the property’s cool cloisters and expansive terraces.
Inside
A pair of monumental wooden gates lead into a Moorish style, paved internal courtyard with a large central fountain. The living and sleeping areas of Masseria la Spinetta are all on one floor and the living room lies straight ahead through large arched glass doors. To either side are the two self contained sleeping wings, both suitable for a family. On the right is found the master bedroom wing with double bedroom and large ensuite featuring a deep copper free standing bath. This connects to a dressing room with daybeds designed as additional sleeping for larger families. Both rooms have ample fitted storage and the dressing room has a large TV and DVD player. Beyond the dressing room lies a further bedroom with twin beds, a desk and fitted cupboards. This has its own shower room, finished, as indeed are all the bathrooms, in the same cool polished plaster.
